Famed Mexican-Dominican actor Andres Garcia best known for roles in Las gemelas (1972), Herencia maldita (1990), and more, has passed away at age 81. We take a look at the star’s family and children.
Andres’ wife Margarita Portillo announced the actor‘s passing via his Instagram on Tuesday, April 4.
“With a pain that I did not know I could feel in the soul, I want to inform the public that always followed and loved my husband, family and friends, as well as the media, that my husband, Andrés Garcia, the love of my loves, is resting beside of our lord jesus,” Margarita wrote in the caption.
The news left fans distraught. Many took to Twitter to mourn Mexican television’s coveted leading man.
Meet Andres Garcia’s children
The actor was a father of three. He shared sons Andrés García Jr and Leonardo with ex-wife Sandra Vale. The former couple’s son Leonardo has shared many pictures with his mother on Instagram.
He also shares a daughter – Andrea Garcia from his marriage to actress and TV presenter Fernanda Ampudia.
All of Andres’ kids have followed in their father’s footsteps and joined show business.
Both Andres Jr, 54, and Leonardo, 50 are actors.
Andres’ eldest Andres Jr has starred in projects like El placer de la venganza (1988), Like Water for Chocolate (1992), Buscando la muerte (1989), A Chance To Love (2008) and more.
The younger brother Leonardo has appeared in titles such as El Chavo (2006), Tarzán (1991) and Adicciones (2011) among others.
Andres’ only daughter Andrea, 47, is an actress who appeared in the likes of El Triunfo del Amo (2010), El Pantera (2007), Código Postal, and more.
Mexican actor was married multiple times
Mag.ElComercio notes that Andres married his first wife Sandra in 1967. The couple welcomed son Andres Jr a year later in 1968 and Leonardo in 1972.
After separating from his first wife, he went on to marry TV presenter Fernanda in 1974 and the couple welcomed daughter Andrea in 1975.
In 1980, the heartthrob tied the knot with Sonia Infante. The pair divorced 12 years later in 1992. His final marriage was with Margarita and the couple remained together till his end days.
Star’s cause of death was hepatic cirrhosis
Deadline reports that the star died of hepatic cirrhosis which refers to severe scarring in the lungs.
In the Instagram post announcing the actor’s demise, his wife Margarita noted that he had received a transfusion on Sunday, April 2. “The same Sunday we returned home but his little body was already very tired,” she writes.
“He received the extra anointing on Monday, April 3, with me by his side as well as my sister and his nurse,” she further details.
