NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — World-renowned musician Jon Batiste appeared on Tuesday’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to perform of his hit “Prince.”
Batiste, who is the musical director for the Late Show, teamed up with Colbert’s house band Stay Human to perform the jazzy cut which is from his latest live album Chronology Of A Dream: Live At The Village Vanguard.
For the performance, he showed off his versatility as a musician, starting on the drums before he moved to the piano.
“My compositions on Chronology focus on thematic development within short-form structures with memorable melodic themes, while Angels focus on thematic development within longer form structures that are built for deconstruction, never to be played the same way twice,” Batiste said, describing the album.
Chronology Of A Dream is the second live album to come from Batiste’s 2018 residency at the iconic New York jazz club.
