(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Legendary Friars Club of California (Friars), known the world over for its "Roasts, Toasts & Jokes," and as one of the most exclusive entertainment clubs and societies in the nation, has been acquired by Darren Schaeffer, 38, son of Friars president, Irwin Schaeffer.

"The Friars of Beverly Hills, as the new name reads, will recapture the incredible glamour where 'Old Hollywood' meets 'New Hollywood' in the very same building that it has lived for 43 years," said Irwin Schaeffer. "The Friars will continue its world famous tradition of 'Roasts, Toasts & Special Events' and continue its alignment with charitable organizations."

"The original memorabilia is to be elegantly and tastefully displayed in order to preserve the roots of the original Friars Club and show the importance of its original vision. Surroundings will be warm and inviting while always being comfortable for a multitude of venues, unequalled in privacy and unique services," Schaeffer continued. "The Friars will be a highly prestigious place for members to spend their time in a place where people will be honored to be a member, and proud of The Friars rebirth. There will always be something going on and humor will be reinvented by the finest comedians of our times."

The Friars of Beverly Hills new restaurant, Virgo, will be a first-class dining establishment, directed by chef David Fouts, formerly of Granita, Bamboo, Jimmy's Tavern and Josie. The restaurant will be available for lunch, dinner, cocktails and appetizers, throughout the day and into the night. "We will put the Friars of Beverly Hills into the spotlight and Virgo will be at its nucleus," said Fouts.

"The Friars will become a grander version of itself, transforming those who frequent it, into an era that was once lost but now reborn," said Darren Schaeffer. "One can always go to reminisce about an entertainment era, surrounded by friends, humor, glamour and glitz, in first class." –Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
