Bob Motzko wife Shelley Motzko currently lives in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Bob is the head coach of the Golden Gophers ice hockey team.
The renowned Austin-born head coach recently won the 2023 Spencer Penrose Award. He started his coaching career in 1986 with St. Cloud State as an assistant coach for two years.
Bob played hockey for seven years before embarking on his coaching career. He excelled in the forward position while playing for the likes of Waterloo, Austin, Dubuque Fighting Saints and St. Cloud State.
Coaching for St.Cloud Huskies, he was named Western Collegiate Hockey Association coach of the year. Motzko got the Herb Brooks Coach of the Year award for the first time in the NCHC in 2014.
As an assistant coach for the University of Minnesota, Bob was a member of two NCAA Division I national championship teams in 2002 and 2003. He also helped the Gophers record WCHA playoff championships.

The couple loves spending time with their offspring, as they celebrated their Christmas together in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They went ziplining in Provo, Utah on August 21, 2020.
Both Shelley and Bob are also involved in the charitable program. They were seen participating in the American Cancer Society's Real Men Wear Pink campaign in 2017.

Beau has followed in his footstep to become a hockey player. Beau was born on June 26, 2004 in St. Cloud.
Bob Motzko son Mack was a hockey player who passed away at the age of 20 on 24 July 2021 in a car accident.
Mack was sitting in the backseat of the car with two passengers when the car went off the road and struck multiple trees.
Although he was taken to the hospital immediately after the incident, he could not survive. According to police, both alcohol and over speed very crucial factors in the accident.
Mack Was A Hockey Player
Mack was born on January 7, 2001 in Saint Cloud, Minnesota. He grew up playing hockey with his father.
He was a senior on the St. Cloud Cathedral team which got to the semifinals of the Minnesota state high school tournament.
During his high school career, he helped Cathedral in getting to the semifinals of two state tournaments. He graduated from Minnetonka High School in 2020.
Mack Motzo signed the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League after graduating from high school. He participated in 25 games for the New Mexico Ice Wolves in the NAHL and 14 games for the Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL during his junior year.
Ella Motzko
Ella studied B.S Kinesiology at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She played lacrosse during high school in St. Cloud.
Ella was in a relationship with Sam Schuneman. Sam sadly passed away in the same accident with his brother Mack.
She has shared a picture of Sam on her Instagram account and written a heartful message.
Ella graduated from the University of Minnesota on June 3, 2021. She has been in the Pre Health Post Bac program at Northwestern Health Sciences University and worked as a clinical assistant at a dermatology clinic in Edina.
Inside Bob Motzko Family
Bob Motzko was born on 27 March 1961 in Austin, Minnesota. He grew up with his two brothers Bill Motzko and Jerome Motzko.
Motzko moved to Austin with his old folks and started playing hockey. He is very vocal about the contributions of his parents and credits them for whatever he has achieved to date.
He attended Austin High and participated in hockey, where he instantly showed a natural talent for the offense. Bob even had the opportunity to train with the Mavericks off the ice as well as skated with them at Austin High.
Motzko began his coaching career after his playing days. In 1989, he led the North Iowa squad to a junior national championship. He later moved to college hockey from Mason City and worked as Mark Mazzoleni's assistant at Miami of Ohio.
More than three decades later, the passion remains the same for the veteran coach as he has returned to take command of the Golden Gophers.
